Our Trip to Grandfather Mountain
Halloween at Grandfather Mountain was a BLAST! After setting up camp on Friday afternoon, we just hung out at the campsite and had dinner. The kids loved all the freedom they had to run around and play in the river. FYI..Don't ever tell the kids not to get IN the water. Trust me, it DOESN'T work!!!
At dusk, we headed to the local Trunk or Treat downtown. It was perfect for the kids and much easier on us.
Saturday, we ventured out to hike Grandfather Mountain and walk across the Swinging Bridge. Yes, I did it. I mustered the courage to overcome my newly aquired FEAR OF HEIGHTS. I was actually standing there watching the rest of the gang go and decided, in my competitive nature, that I WAS NOT going out like a wimp. Needless to say, we got some awesome pictures and I did just fine.
All in all, we had a great time and are now finished with our camping trips for the year.
To see God's creation like that is absolutely AMAZING!

"WE ALL VOTED!!!"
Well, we survived the 1 1/2 hour wait this morning to vote!!! The kids did great and had their recess time while we waited. They really got a kick out of taking part in the KIDS VOTE! I am proud of them and the great job they did. I must say that Asher said the SWEETEST thing to me while we were waiting in line. We were talking about why we vote and how important it is to do your part as a citizen of the United States; He looked up at me with the cutest face and said "Mommy, I think they should vote for you to be our next President of the United States." Now, we all know how troublesome that would be, however, for my son to think that much of me just really brought a smile to my face. Have a Blessed day and REMEMBER TO VOTE!!!!!

Our LCHE field trip to Hanging Rock State Park proved to be tons of fun. The boys did great on the 1.2 mile hike UP and down to the falls. I could barely keep up with Asher. He was just having a blast running around with his friends. Mason, on the other hand, did great hiking DOWN to the falls, but on the way UP, he could NOT understand why mommy couldn't carry him. (Gee, I wonder?)
Heather and Gabriel came down and made the trip with us and had a lot of fun too. These boys bring so much adventure to my life. I love it!!!

September 26-28, 2008
The Annual camping trip to Timberlake Campground proved to be even more fun than last year. After setting up camp on Friday, the boys proceeded to get as DIRTY as they possibly could in just a few short minutes. How do you cope? Well, I love going camping and watching them have so much freedom and fun, but for the filthiness, all I can say is that sometimes you just have to take one for the team! We made our yearly trip to Mountain Family Heritage Day at Western Carolina and the kids, once again, brought home a piece of the tree they sawed through with Daddy, some crafts and those AWFUL toy snakes filled with birdseed. I guess I don't need to tell you that those have already been sewed back together once.(more sewing ahead I'm sure) We set out in search of a letter box for our book.(for more info. on letterboxing visit letterboxing.org) I guess you could say that our trip was a great success! Can't wait for next year!
